Mgt 344 - Successful organizations make use of many different tactics in order to remain successful. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the many different tactics that the Wal-Mart organization uses to continue to be successful. Wal-Mart is a multi-billion dollar a year organization that continues to grow. Wal-Mart is the largest organization in America (Bateman & Snell, 2007). Wal-Mart’s continued growth is associated with the use of motivational principals, a good ethics program, and conflict management approaches.
Vct420 - Motivational principals such as growth, achievement, and equity/satisfaction are principals that Wal-Mart uses to keep their employees happy and working hard to keep Wal-Mart on top of its industry. Wal-Mart ethics programs such as codes of ethics, training, monitoring, and enforcement help keep the organization and employees honest and working for the good of the organization. Wal-Mart’s conflict management approaches can be both direct and indirect.

The Wal-Mart organization values motivational principles and applies them to the area of growth in several ways. Growth is one of the major areas of focus by Wal-Mart’s management because it is essential to their success. Wal-Mart stores operate in more than 3,800 locations in the United States and 6,800 stores worldwide (Wal-Mart Stores, 2008). According to Anderson (2006), “Ninety percent of the (United States) population lives within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.” In order for the organization to be successful with its growth plans, Wal-Mart management recognizes the importance to motivate its workforce.
